I failed to pass my Grade 8 piano examination despite two attempts. By the time I called it quits, playing the piano had turned into a chore. There were more exciting activities for a teenager, like video games and football.
I am, thus, hesitant to inflict such a fate on my children. Not to mention the high cost of paying for lessons and buying a piano.

For 17 years, Angela Hewitt, one of the world's foremost classical pianists, has been performing recitals and creating acclaimed recordings with a rare concert grand piano.
But their partnership has now ended. This week, she composed a eulogy for her beloved instrument, as full of emotion and longing as the music she once created with it.
Movers had dropped the piano, destroying it.

A team of highly experienced specialists from around the country (engineers, choreographers, technicians, stage managers, tuner, manager, etc) are working on this project.
Swiss artist Alain Roche did just that at dawn last Friday, as he gave a piano concert at a construction site in Munich, Germany.
What was more impressive was how he did it - he and his grand piano were hanging vertically in mid-air, suspended from a crane.

Using Roland’s latest PureAcoustic modelling software and their Acoustic Projection System a fully functioning GPX-F1 Facet Grand Piano was constructed. And it was unveiled to the world at this week’s CES (2020) exhibition in Las Vegas.

Johann Sebastian Bach, with his wives Maria Barbara (m. 1707–1720) and Anna Magdalena (m. 1721–1750), fathered 20 children over his lifetime.
His first was born in 1708 when Bach was 23, with his last coming into the world in 1742, when the composer was 57. Sadly, only ten survived through to adulthood.

No one is sure of the exact birth date of Ludwig van Beethoven, who was born in Bonn, Germany in December 1770.
He was baptised on 17 December, so he was probably born the day before. His birthplace (pictured) is now the Beethoven-Haus museum.

Recently, Morley College in London was planning to put on an event celebrating International Women's Day when it unintentionally caused a public relations uproar. The college had produced a poster featuring a male pianist and no women performing on what was supposed to be a day celebrating women. Female activitists immediately took issue to this.

When Rachmaninoff's Symphony No. 1 premiered in 1897, critics utterly condemned it. A critic and composer César Cui compared the piece with a depiction of the Ten Plagues of Egypt and brutally suggested that it would be well-received by the "inmates" of a music conservatory in Hell.
Rachmaninoff fell into a depression that lasted for four years, suffered from writer’s block, and composed almost nothing.
