During the last two years we’ve carried out a complete review of the syllabus to ensure it meets the needs of teachers and learners. As a result, we’ve made some important changes:

- A new Initial Grade for Piano
- New scales requirements and supporting resources
- A one-year overlap period, with the 2019 & 2020 syllabus valid until 31 December (all three pieces and the scales requirements must be prepared from the same syllabus
- More choice and variety of... See More

The provision of online exams is a new and very exciting step for us and, we hope, for our community of teachers and learners too. I completely understand that many of you will be disappointed that you cannot use these online exams sooner.

However, by launching them in the UK with a limited number of candidates, we can make sure that the processes and systems that support the exams are effective and run smoothly.

In light of the extraordinary circumstances due to Coronavirus, we’re delighted to announce that we will shortly be launching a digital assessment alternative for Classical, Jazz, Rock & Pop and Speech and Drama exams (grades - Initial to 8).

This submission-based alternative will enable candidates with pre-existing exam bookings to upload a video of their performance pieces.

It's unclear whether you perform live through video conferencing, or submit your best recording in this new assessment mode. However, "online and live assessments" seems to suggest the former. Stay tuned.

The health and safety of all Trinity candidates, examiners and staff is our absolute priority. Therefore, due to the increasing spread of COVID-19, we have taken the decision to suspend all exams and awards with immediate effect.

Trinity is committed to supporting the hard work of candidates and teachers around the world. We know the amount of time and effort involved in preparing for our assessments, and how disappointing it will be to have to postpone exams.

On the basis of official and local advice, we have decided to suspend all Practical music exams outside the UK and Ireland from now until 1 July 2020, and our Representative will contact applicants with further guidance. Unfortunately due to recent measures announced by the UK Government, we have taken the decision to cancel the remaining practical exams in this current session in Singapore from Friday 20 March to Friday 27 March. All future exams until 1 July 2020 have been postponed, including the theory exam on 28 March. Our representative will contact applicants with further guidance. We are very sorry that this has impacted your candidates’ exams, and thank you for your loyal support during this challenging time. Unfortunately the Music Theory exam on the 28 March 2020 will be postponed due to continuing concerns surrounding the COVID-19 outbreak.
