Coronavirus lockdowns are no barrier for musicians who want to record together: remotely: as British singer-songwriter John Miles and the Antwerp Philharmonic Orchestra showed with their new release.

Miles sang and played the piano at home in the northeast of England, while the others performed their own sections elsewhere in Europe, following a click track of sound cues to keep time. The tracks were combined in a studio.

Robot breaks the record for Piano Tiles on the iPad.

Technical details:
- Overhead iPhone 6+ processes video of the iPad screen at 120 fps.
- iPhone tracks tile speed and sends timing info via MIDI over USB through the camera connection kit.
- Teensy 3.2 receives tile data and sends step/direction to stepper drivers, which smash the tiles via conductive foam on brass bars.

Soaring to new musical heights, a German-born innovator has crafted what is believed to be the world’s largest grand piano.

It is without question one of a kind. Attached high on the wall of a concert hall in Latvia, the steel-framed vertical grand piano hangs as if in midair some three stories above the audience. To play it, pianists must climb a steep flight of steel stairs to a balcony.
