Known for her imaginative and electrifying performances, up-and-coming Chinese pianist Zee Zee (Zhang Zuo) makes her Singapore debut performance at the Esplanade Concert Hall.
Over two evenings, Zee Zee presents a captivating programme comprising of music along the themes of surrealism and fantasy — Arnold Schönberg’s Drei Klavierstücke, Maurice Ravel’s Gaspard de la nuit and excerpts from Franz Liszt’s Années de pèlerinage. The second concert will feature a fusion romantic repertoire by Clara and Robert Schumann and Johannes Brahms.
As a soloist, Zee Zee has performed with many international orchestras including BBC Symphony Orchestra, Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra and Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. Her appearances at prestigious venues also include Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels. Zee Zee has released albums as both a soloist and chamber musician under Deutsche Grammaphone.
Zee Zee was awarded first prizes at China's 1st International Piano Concerto Competition, the Gina Bachauer International Artists Piano Competition and the Krainev International Piano Competition. She was also a prizewinner at the 2013 Queen Elizabeth Competition.
