Singapore Symphony Group (SSG) on Thursday (April 9) announced the cancellation of the upcoming Singapore International Piano Festival, slated to run between June 4 and June 7 this year.

In its announcement, SSG said four pianists who were scheduled to appear for this year's festival - Nelson Goerner, Mei Yi Foo, Leon McCawley and Christian Zacharias - were unable to attend due to Covid-19 travel restrictions.

It's unclear whether you perform live through video conferencing, or submit your best recording in this new assessment mode. However, "online and live assessments" seems to suggest the former. Stay tuned.

A teenager who lost both of her hands to meningitis when she was a baby has rediscovered her love of the piano during the coronavirus lockdown.

Tilly Lockey, from Consett in County Durham, said she was determined not to be defined by her disability.

The 14-year-old said: "You would think playing the piano with no hands, that's got to be impossible, because it's all about your fingers, but really I just wanted to show everyone that I found my own way, and so can you."
